Desmond T. Barry, Jr. joined Condon &
Forsyth in 1973. He is a partner and a member of the Management Committee.
Des concentrates in
complex and multidistrict aviation, products liability and insurance litigation and has been lead
counsel in several multidistrict aviation cases.
In 1997 he was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of
Defense Counsel ("IADC") and has been a faculty member at the IADC National Trial Academy and Dean of
the IADC Corporate Counsel College. Des is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has
published and lectured extensively on aviation law and trial practice. During the period from 1967
to 1970, he served as a combat officer in the United States Marine Corps.
He is admitted to the bar of New York (1974), the District Courts for the Southern and
Eastern Districts of New York (1974), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fifth,
Ninth Circuits, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuits
and the U.S. Supreme Court (1985).
Des is also a member
of the
International Association of Defense Counsel (Member, Executive Committee, 1997-2001;
Dean, Corporate Counsel College, 2003;
Chairman, Aviation and Space Law Committee, 1995-1997), the
IADC Foundation (Board Member, 2001-2008), the
Defense Research Institute, the

He is a graduate of Fordham University School of
Law (J.D., 1973) and Princeton University (A.B., 1967).
