John D. Horenstein joined Condon & Forsyth LLP in 1999 and is a partner of the firm.
John has broad-based practice experience in handling complex tort and commercial
litigation and sophisticated commercial transactions. As a trial and
litigation attorney, John's experience involves representation of clients in
the areas of product liability defense (including counseling manufacturers on
preventive measures), general aviation and mass tort litigation in both federal
and state courts.
John serves as national
counsel for foreign and domestic aircraft manufacturers. He has successfully served these
manufacturers in international and domestic litigation, arbitration and
mediation, business transactions and regulatory matters. John has significant experience in real
estate transactions and international commerce. His experience includes: real
estate acquisitions, financing and leasing, complex international contract
negotiations and alternative dispute resolution on behalf of airlines, aircraft
manufacturers and other aviation businesses. John has also assisted clients in all
phases of the negotiation and documentation of commercial agreements.
John has been very active throughout his career
in various city, state and national bar associations and has
written articles or has lectured on diverse aviation-related issues, including
the General Aviation Revitalization Act, HAZMAT/hazardous materials
regulations, fractional ownership, and commercial leasing and financing. He currently serves
as co-editor of Aviation Highlights, a column from the
Association of Transportation Law Practitioners bi-monthly newsletter,
Association Highlights.
John is admitted to the bar of New York (1995), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second
Circuit (1997) and the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1995).
He is a member of the American Bar Association, The Association of the Bar of the City of
New York (Member, Aeronautics Committee), The Association of Transportation Law Professionals
(Program Committee), the Defense Research Institute (Product Liability Committee), the Federal
Bar Counsel and the Transportation Lawyers Association (Aviation Committee). John graduated from
Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1994) where he was Note and Commentary Editor, Journal of Law and
Policy; Intern Grievance Committee, 2nd Judicial Department, Honorable Hal Lieberman,
Chairman and from Clark University (B.A., cum laude, 1986).
