Michael J. Peterson is an associate of the firm, practicing in
our New York office since June 2001. Michael’s practice encompasses all aspects of
international aviation law, general liability, products liability and commercial litigation.
He has worked extensively on a number of complex multidistrict litigations of major air
disasters involving foreign and domestic air carriers, and has gained valuable experience
in conducting complex discovery, preparing motions, and
evaluating and resolving claims in these types of cases. Michael also has extensive
experience representing several international air carriers and a Fortune 100 overnight
package delivery company in general liability, products liability and commercial litigation
throughout the United States. He has participated in all aspects of litigation, including
trials, and has argued numerous appeals and motions in state and federal courts. Michael
also has participated several foreign litigations in Europe and Asia, and has
defended FAA civil penalty cases.
Michael is admitted to the bars of New York (1999) and New Jersey (1999) and the U.S.
District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (2001). He is a member
of the Federal Bar Council and the American Bar Association (Editorial Board Member,
“Jury Instruction Handbook, Aviation Law” (2005)). Michael graduated from Fordham
University School of Law (J.D., 1998) where he was a Staff Member of the Fordham
Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal. He was also Judicial Intern
to The Honorable Alfred J. Lechner, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the
District of New Jersey. Michael obtained his undergraduate degree at Rutgers College (B.A., 1994).
